Yes, We Have Mastered Technology!

Okay, so really this about how many books are being published each year, but that’s really beside the point. We have finally figured out how to work the new Publisher’s Weekly daily enewsletter. It all comes down to our old friend, RSS.

We have been puzzling and arguing with the new format of the newsletter for some time now, so much so that we’d simply stopped bothering with the whole thing. Yet today, they sucked us in with a headline (below) and we gave it our best shot…and discovered that the newsletter now comes with a helpful RSS feed. You can (wait for it) click directly through to interesting articles without trying to guess where the links are. We rarely say this, but kudos to someone at PW.

But enough about us. In other news, lots of books are being published. Big houses had a modest increase. Small to medium houses posted larger increases. Everyone is now officially an author. Despite the fact that fiction is apparently not hip with the kids today (and we’ll be addressing this more in depth tomorrow when we get to play at the Virtual Book Tour), lots of it is being written and published. There seems to be a disconnect here; we simply cannot figure it out.
