We Hardly Ever Point to Reality

We are in awe by Ken Jennings’ winning streak on Jeopardy. We love a winner. Mostly. But we do love a smart guy. But despite our resolution (see earlier today), we cannot let the winning streak myth pass. He didn’t go on hiatus and then return to defend his crown. That’s not how things work. These episodes are (close your eyes if you hate reality) taped in advance. The program has returned from hiatus. It’s a subtle, but important difference.

This does not make KenJen (yes, we really typed that) less of a competitor, but it does remind us that television does not reflect reality. It’s an important distinction, and while we love a smart guy, remember to read headlines with caution. The life you read about may be your own.
